It doesn’t matter if you call it pop or soda we all know what that sweet, carbonated drink tastes like. Most people like it, and drink some form of soda with every meal. However, it is extremely important to figure out if the things we are putting in our body are actually good for us. Especially if we want to protect our teeth and the health of our body.
What is it?
Soda or Pop, is basically a mixture of carbonated water, a sweetening product and a type of flavoring. As you can see the ingredients are not in any way good for us and because soda is a mixture of acids and sugars, soda is especially horrible for the condition of our teeth. Drinking soda is one of the most significant sources for tooth decay and a major contributor to why we get cavities. Soda has a lot of teeth eroding properties such as high amounts of phosphoric acid, carbonation, different sugar sweeteners such as sucrose, fructose, saccharin, and other artificial sweeteners. These things stick in our mouths and coat our teeth that leads to the wear down of enamel and the yellowing of our teeth.
What You Can Do
If you want to protect your teeth from being worn down or eroding the calcium in your teeth to prevent staining, tooth loss, cavities and sensitivity there are a couple things you can do.
