Solutions to Common Mouth Problems

13 Apr 2015

Even if you brush your teeth every day, you might find that you suffer from oral health conditions that are embarrassing or otherwise distracting from your every day life. If you want to have great looking teeth that feel and look amazing, you need to combine your oral health routine with a comprehensive regimen that solves these common problems:

Bad Breath. Bad breath, or halitosis, can be caused by a variety of problems. The most common is just poor oral hygiene. However, this can be exacerbated by bacteria growing in the spaces between teeth that make it impossible to clean just by brushing your teeth. Your bad breath, if persistent, may be caused by something more out of your control, such as another disease. Respiratory illnesses and diabetes can often contribute to bad breath. Also, if you don’t have enough saliva production you may find these odor growing. This is why taking medication that dries out your mouth could be a symptom. Knowing that this problem may be caused by other medical disorders can help you kill two birds with one stone.

Mouth Sores. Mouth sores are no fun and can be distracting to you physically and to your self-image. They develop externally on the lips if they are cold sores, and can be canker sores if inside the mouth along the gums. Both of these sores tend to heal quickly on their own, usually within a week, but they can also be treated with a topical anesthetic if you are worried about the sensation or the physical appearance. If you suffer from mouth sores often, however, talk to your doctor about getting an antiviral drug to reduce the virus that causes sores.

You mouth is a precious place to protect, but it can be hard to deal with external disorders that make your pearly whites seem less beautiful. Learn more about dental disorders by calling us today.
