How Do I Choose the Right Dentist?
20 Feb 2013
Finding the right dentist for you and your family can be difficult, especially if you’re new to an area. It’s important to find someone who you feel comfortable talking with and who offers the services you need. To help you with your dentist search, we’ve made a little checklist of things to consider while you’re surfing the web or driving around your neighborhood.
Specialty. Not all dentists have the same training or the same field of interest. You want to make sure that a dentist offers the services that matter to you.
Convenience. When searching for a dentist online, you want to make sure you find a practice that’s close to where you live. Otherwise you may never end up going.
Payment Plan. No matter how much you may like a dentist, if he or she doesn’t accept your insurance or provide you with a reasonable payment plan, you probably won’t be a long-term patient.
Consultation. You want to be able to talk to your dentist and communicate your concerns easily. Scheduling a consultation is a great way to meet a dentist and better understand your treatment options.
Attitude. At the consultation, an important thing to look for is the dentist’s attitude towards you and others in the office. If you feel that your concerns are being ignored, that particular dentist probably isn’t the one for you.
Professionalism. A clean office and an organized staff are good indicators of a practice’s professionalism and commitment to upholding high standards.
